Banks of the Seine Paris

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

sciences-images97In mid-April 2010, the mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoe has presented his proposed redevelopment of embankment roads. Objective: to pedestrians within two years nearly 4.5 acres of road left bank and right bank. In this picture, the docks near the Concorde with artificial islands off the docks, in the vein of Paris Plages operation.

sciences-images98The project involves the construction of the docks down the Seine currently open to traffic. For the right bank: the speed of movement is reduced with traffic lights, at least 5 between the bridge of Jena and the Pont de Sully. Here in Port Célestins pedestrian spaces would be considerably extended.

sciences-images99The space savings would install new places of relaxation and entertainment on the waterfront into a real urban road. Here, a floating barge moored at the dock would be the City Hall and would house a cafe. Restaurants and bars would be installed in other locations.

sciences-images100The dock bottom of the left bank would be fully closed to traffic between the Musee d’Orsay and the Pont de l’Alma. Instead lanes would be installed so-called perennial activities organized around the culture, sports and nature. Here, a view of the future redevelopment of the Alma Bridge.

sciences-images101Gardens, playground, sports fields and other activities will be undertaken by the city of Paris for an annual operating cost estimated at two million euros.

sciences-images102A dozen barges would be accessible to the public. Among them, the Ludobarge from the platform of the Hotel de Ville. As its name suggests, it would include activities focused on games and fun.

sciences-images103At night, the banks of the Seine would no longer empty but would host events such as bleachers, installed in front of the Orsay Museum. They would admire the panorama of the Grand and Petit Palais and the Louvre. Or a passion for a film projected on a screen mounted on a barge mobile.

sciences-images104The project distinguishes facilities on the left bank of the right bank. At each space activities. However, a better link between the two sides is considered. The approaches to the bridge that connects the park of the Tuileries, Musée d’Orsay are completely reorganized.

sciences-images105The left bank quays include seven sports fields and green spaces. A skate park will be built at the port of Gros stone here on the image.

sciences-images106The draft Bertrand Delanoe, entitled “Revitalising embankment roads, will be consultation between the elected Council of Paris, the district mayors and the Autonomous Port of Paris and the Paris Police Prefecture . Here, near the footbridge that connects Jena to Quai Branly, would be redeveloped.

sciences-images107Like the Paris Beaches changing face each year, the redevelopment of the banks may evolve. The facilities will not be fixed and new features will appear in function “uses and needs,” said the mayor of Paris. Here, the bridge piers of Solferino.

sciences-images108The project involves 15 acres of land with 4.5 left bank, between the Alma and Solferino. Work must be completed during summer 2012.
