And if … The universe was 1 year

z5Life there is 3.8 billion years
We must wait some days (a few hundred million years) appear to see the miracle of life.

Previously, the material was inert. And then there are 3.8 billion years, some molecules have acquired the ability to self assemble and replicate. Life was born.

z6Plants, there 475 million years
Plant organisms produce their own organic matter, particularly through photosynthesis.

It took several billion years after the onset of life for organisms as sophisticated as the plants appear. We are already December 18th of this year.

z7Conquering the land, there are 400 million years
Two days later (well, 75 million years or so later), the land was finally conquered by the animal kingdom.

The marine vertebrates who have left the water in particular developing new means of locomotion, and learn to use oxygen from the air rather than water.

z8The dinosaurs, there 230 million years
They bloom on Christmas day: they are dinosaurs. They will dominate the planet for 4 days and a half years of our imagination (165 million years).

These reptiles, which were not all giants are finally removed from the globe. There are several possible explanations for their disappearance.

z9Lucy, there are 3.2 million years
We are now the last day of our year fantasy year I of the Universe. And unto 20H (so late!), This December 31, appearance of the first hominids: their history, leading to ours, is, was it necessary to recall this extremely short across the ‘Universe.

Lucy, Australopithecus afarensis, was discovered in Ethiopia in 1974 by an international research team, when about 3.2 million years.

z10The fire, domesticated there are 400 000 years
Approximately 15 minutes before the end of this year-universe (and therefore 400 000 BCE), the fire is tamed, and everything changes: the extended day is night, winter is not so cold, food can be cooked, the tools have improved the social life is increasing …

z11Art, there are 30 000 years
A minute before the end of the year, Art made his entrance. It took that drain 99% of the 9998 history of the universe to reach the first known manifestations of pictorial creation in humans.

It was a few tens of thousands of years.

z12The beginning of our era
That is, if the universe was born a year ago, our era has begun there is only one second. A blink of an eye on the time scale.

z13The end of life 4 billion years
L’An II, it is our future. In 3 months and 16 days, the future stops.

Because in 4 billion years the sun became too hot and bright, no longer permit conditions that allow life to flourish to maintain.

Life: September 21 One Year On, April 16 An II.

z14The end of the Sun in 5 billion years
“He died the Sun” the song says. Not yet, but someday, yes. Nearly a month (1 billion years) after that no one can observe, life being extinct, the sun will end its cycle.

Infinite Universe: New and Incredible Space Images

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

hs-2009-25-f-webToday NASA released stunning pictures of galaxies, stars and nebulae new cameras captured by the Hubble Space Telescope. “Hubble is back, ready to explore new worlds, listening to the depths of space and to map the invisible backbone of the universe” , U.S. space agency said in a statement. The observatory, in danger of being left to die in space after 19 years of operation, was repaired last May in a rescue mission of shuttle Atlantis at a cost of 1,100 million dollars. “This is a new beginning for the Hubble,” said Ed Weiler, associate administrator of NASA’s scientific board. “The telescope received a total refurbishment and is now more powerful than ever, equipped until the next decade,” he said. Among the most stunning images include those of several galaxies, a motley collection of stars and nebulae “butterfly”, NASA said.

hs-2009-25-f-web1With the spread of these images, astronomers have declared that totally rejuvenated Hubble, NASA said, after Sen. Barbara Mikulski announced today would give them at a ceremony in Washington.
In addition to performing repair work, the Atlantis astronauts installed a camera that can detect stars and galaxies over a wide expanse of the electromagnetic spectrum from ultraviolet to infrared light.
Moreover, the new spectrograph lets dissect the light of the universe and search for the distribution of elements that may be essential in the creation of life, NASA said. But besides looking at the Earth without the distortion of the atmosphere, the Hubble with new instruments may conduct a census of objects, rocks and asteroids in the Kuiper Belt on the outskirts of the solar system. It may also be a direct witness to the birth of planets around other stars and analyze the composition and structure of the atmospheres of other worlds.

hs-2009-25-e-webAccording to NASA, Hubble is also equipped to look at galaxies that were born when the Universe was only 500 million years, and to study the mysterious force that causes the increasingly rapid expansion of our universe. All new discoveries that NASA expects will be added to the many that it has completed the telescope. Without the atmospheric distortion, capturing images of bodies and phenomena never before seen, like stars surrounded by cosmic dust that could become planetary systems, galaxies at edge of the universe, the collision of stars and evidence that most of the constellations have black holes at their center. In addition, Hubble helped determine the age of the universe is about 13,700 million years, that the planet formation process is similar in the universe and discovered the first organic molecule on a planet orbiting another star, and also provides speed expansion of the universe.
